They differ in how they are established, how they are sized, the technique used, and what they cost.

Sisterlocks is a trademarked system with its own prescribed methodology. It follows a specific grid and uses an interlocking technique to build the foundation, and a stylist must be trained in that system to offer it. Because the technique is precise and detailed, installation usually takes longer and pricing reflects that.

Microlocs are not tied to one prescribed system. They can be established with twists, braids, interlocking, or a combination, and the parting pattern and loc size can be customized to your hair. That flexibility generally makes Microlocs faster to install and more affordable than Sisterlocks.

We will talk through which method suits your texture, density, and goals during your consultation.

The Heal Thy Hair schedule opens on the 15th of each month and releases availability for the following month.

If you check booking after the 15th and no appointments appear, that booking period is full or the next period has not opened yet. The booking system is always current, so it is the fastest and most accurate place to see what is available.

An installation can take roughly 12 to 30 hours, split across multiple days. The exact time depends on your establishment method, part size, length, head size, and hair density.

As a general guide:

• Microlocs, about 2 days
• Sisterlocks, about 3 to 4 days
• Interlock extensions, about 4 to 5 days

You will receive a specific timeframe for your hair during your consultation.

Yes. A consultation is required for all new loc establishments.

During the consultation we will discuss the best establishment method for your hair, walk through the process, review pricing, and give you an estimated timeframe. Tester locs are also completed when appropriate.

Your installation dates are scheduled during the consultation visit.

Transfer requests are reviewed individually rather than booked directly.

Ongoing retightening maintenance is limited, so before anything is scheduled I need to see your locs. Submit a Heal Thy Hair Client Assessment, choose Transfer Client, Ongoing Maintenance, and share your loc history, your current maintenance, and clear photos of your locs and grid. I personally review every request and let you know whether Heal Thy Hair is able to take over your maintenance.

Yes. Heal Thy Hair is accepting new clients for new loc installations.

To be clear, this means new loc establishments. Transfer maintenance is a separate service with its own limited availability, and it is reviewed individually through the Client Assessment. New installation availability and transfer maintenance availability are tracked separately.

Consultations for new installations are available beginning October 2026. The schedule opens on the 15th of each month for the following month. If no consultation availability appears after the 15th, that booking period is full or the next month has not opened yet.

Out of state clients will need to come in for an in person consultation. In many cases this can be coordinated close to the time of your installation when that works for your travel.

Please note that routine maintenance availability is limited for out of state clients, so it helps to plan your return visits in advance.

Installations require multiple sessions, and pricing begins at:

• Microlocs, beginning at $1,500
• Sisterlocks, beginning at $2,000
• Loc extensions, beginning at $3,500

Final pricing depends on length, density, loc size, and what your hair needs to be established properly. You will receive exact pricing at your consultation.

Yes, with one important distinction. Repair and corrective concerns are evaluated separately from routine transfer maintenance, because they need to be reviewed before anything is scheduled.
